A trip round Nha Trang islands

A visitor amazed at the mysterious Ha Long Bay of thousands of charming islands will find the scene of 60 granite islands circling the Nha Trang sea a good reminder, even though on a much lesser scale.

All islands in the waters off this central coast city bring fresh and cheerful feelings thanks to busy life of inhabitants on Tri Nguyen, Hon Mot, or Dam Bay island. However, each of them still maintains distinctive features.

Nowadays, tourism has become the key industry in the region, so islands have been divided into the northern and southern sections to better serve travelers. Islands to the south seem more exciting with Tri Nguyen Aquarium, a living museum of the marine life in Nha Trang. Each fish pond is made of coral so that the sea water can flow in and out and the fish are fully protected.

At the Cau Da Wharf, visitors can ship featuring many ocean species and a beautiful beach nearby named Soi island (Gravel island). Although the beach is not too spacious, it still attracts tourists with a coast of millions of small gravels.

Con Se Tre (Bamboo Sparrow) island is another attraction with a different bamboo architecture. Tourism developers there remind their guests of typical villages of the southern region with Bien Hoa pottery along the roads, ox-carts from HCMC’s Cu Chi District, and other folklore souvenirs. Some open seaside spaces are designed for a grilling stove and torch firing points so that young visitors can hold exciting nights by a dancing flame.

Tam island is a modern amusement resort with interesting outdoor activities such as sea diving, paragliding, and motorboat riding. Besides, travelers will pamper themselves in a fresh green coverage, enjoy specialties, take a walk, or take part in night fishing and mountaineering. Unlike Tam island, Mot island nearby looks like a rural village with a beautiful beach nestled among rock mountains. There are also fishermen living on the island.

While foreign visitors usually stay in Vinpearl Land resort on the Tre island with many high-class comforts and services, ecological travelers prefer the Nha Trang Bay. Some diving trips are available at Mun and Rom islands to watch colorful coral reefs and sea fishes in the blue water. Anyone can join the trip even though he cannot swim.

In addition, Yen (Swallow) or Noi island lures visitors to see thousands of birds’ nests along caves. Sometimes, up to 500,000 swallows come and gather on 12 small islands. The bird’s nest is also a gourmet specialty formerly used to make dishes for kings only.

Visitors can also take a mud-bath at Thap Ba hot spring, visit Yang Bay Falls located 45 kilometers from Nha Trang City, or other temples and pagodas. The journey will be more interesting with Dai (Long) beach famous for fresh seafood and romantic thatched huts by the sea. Some travelers only hire a motorbike, buy a map, and then go on their own without contacting any travel agents.
