Don Khong - Laos
Don Khong is the main island in the South Mekong river region know as the 4000 islands, one of the most scenic areas in Laos. Attractions in the area include waterfalls - some of the biggest in SE Asia, dolphins and local villages. Muang Khong, a small village at the east edge of Don Khong, is the main base for travelers. The islands of Don Khon (S from Don Khong) and Don Det have less facilities but are attracting an increasing number of visitors. These 2 islands are the best base for visiting the Somphamit waterfalls and dolphin watching.
