Choosing Bridegroom Game

According to the legend, Lady General Le Thi Hoa had taken part in fighting Nam Han aggressors and been conferred as "Nu su anh phong" (heroic and educated woman) by Hai Ba Trung. She returned and set up the village, developed agriculture. In order to commemorate her merit, every year on the 2^nd day of the second lunar month, villagers of Duong Yen organise the Choosing Bridegroom Festival with very unique ceremony and traditional games to choose a talented and righteous bridegroom for the Lady General.

The festival opens with the ceremony of returning home to pay thanks to ancestors after achieving academic honours of Lady General Le Hoa. After that, two lads perform unique items in the contest of choosing bridegroom. They have to shows of telling ve, introducing themselves, transplanting rice seedlings, ploughing fields, hooking frogs, catching pigs, "chong cho" (rouse dog to bark loudly).
